Cincinnati Enquirer - Kids get finance advice

Published Date: October 19, 2007

One of the main topics around Dater Montessori School, Price Hill, is learning how to spend and save money and other basic personal finance skills, all through a grant from the Charles H. Dater Foundation.

The grant of $25,000 is supporting the Economics Center's Student Enterprise Program.

The program creates a miniature society that mirrors the real world.  Students in grades 3-5 hold jobs, save, spend and invest school currency, create goods and market them, and create their own government.

The program also improves instruction by providing teachers with the tools necessary to engage students and teach economics and personal finance topics.
