Cincinnati Enquirer -- Grant Will Help Needy Kids Become Happy Campers

Published Date: July 5, 2007

A $15,000 grant to the Children's Home of Cincinnati has turned underprivileged area children into happy campers.

The grant, received from the Charles H. Dater Foundation, will help award scholarships to area needy children to attend Camp-I-Can, the home's 10-week summer day camp for children ages 5-10 years.

The camp combines traditional camp experiences with programs designed to enhance self-esteem, promote leadership, and develop an appreciation of diversity.

"It's a great program, and we like the idea that our grant will enable participation by youngsters who would not otherwise be able to enjoy the benefits of this enriching experience," said Jack Frank, officer and director of the Charles H. Dater Foundation.

The Children's Home of Cincinnati improves the lives of children and their families facing social, behavorial and learning challenges through services. More than 4,500 children and their families sought out servives last year.
