Day of Hope 2019
The 2019 Day of Hope served over 300 families, thanks to a successful alliance of churches and other organizations in the South Cumminsville area community and support from the Dater Foundation. The day included food, beverages and entertainment for attendees and provided education, awareness and support to young people. It was an opportunity for residents to get to know the police officers who serve and protect them. Young people were provided with hygiene kits, and back packs filled with school supplies, as well as winter coats, hats and gloves for those in need. Service agencies came out to support our families including Preschool Promise and Cincinnati Police Department provided K-9 unit, Motorcycle unit, and the Crime Lab units. Cincinnati Urban Ministries provided bounce houses for kids. Cincinnati Works provided lectures to families. Music Entertainment was provided by Victories Empowerment Center. Everyone involved viewed the day as a great success. Aguest speaker talked about Bullying Awareness to young people and parents, students were encouraged to fully participate and share their experiences. Those shared experiences helped equip other students who struggle with bullying to give them confidence and support they need to start the new school year.
