Summer Service Internship Program
Xavier University’s mission is to educate each student intellectually, morally, and spiritually. Xavier’s Summer Service Internship Program fosters young people’s commitment to community service by placing college students in full-time service internships each summer. During the summer of 2019, 20 Xavier University students provided 5,839 hours of service at 19 local agencies in the Greater Cincinnati area. A Dater grant funded stipends and expenses for seven interns who worked in agencies that serve children. These interns were placed at Project Connect, Stepping Stones, Imago Earth Center, Boys and Girls Club, Su Casa Hispanic Center, Civic Garden Center and Kennedy Heights Arts Center. The interns served approximately 700 youth over the course of the internship, for contact hours totaling more than 24,375.
