Sports program for developmentally challenged youth
Special Olympics Hamilton County is a sports organization that serves over 1,800 individuals with intellectual disabilities ages two and older. Its mission is to provide year-round sports training and competition in over 20 sports to give our athletes opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, be included in their community, and make friends. Special Olympics works with schools in Hamilton County and Special Education teachers to bring school age students out for a day of learning a sport or activity that they might not otherwise have the opportunity. Some of these opportunities are Fishing, Gymnastics, Roller Skating, Soccer and Track and Field. A Dater Foundation grant supported over 500 students with their awards, rental space and equipment.
