Girl Scout Leadership Experience

Girl Scouts of Western Ohio (GSWO) is the sixth largest Girl Scout council in the nation and the largest Girl Scout council in Ohio, serving over 36,000 girls and 10,000 volunteers in western Ohio and southeastern Indiana every year. In 2019, GSWO received a grant from the Dater Foundation to support the community outreach program and Camp for Every Girl Initiative in the Greater Cincinnati region. The community outreach program engages girls at Title-1 schools in school-based Girl Scout programming while the Camp for Every Girl Initiative enables girls from low-income families to attend Girl Scout camp. During the 2019-2020 school year, over 2,500 girls will participate in the community outreach program, enabling them to increase their self-confidence, grow as leaders, and learn interpersonal skills that will positively impact their academic achievement.  In summer 2019, GSWO provided 36 girls with fully subsidized resident camp experiences and 317 girls with partial camp scholarships through the Camp for Every Girl Initiative. GSWO is grateful for this grant and to the Dater Foundation for helping to build the female leaders of tomorrow!
