Youth Education Programming
Art and the creative process belong to all people. A Dater Foundation grant supported numerous arts education initiatives that occur throughout the school year in the CAC galleries, lobby, and sixth floor UnMuseum. With programming creatively designed for children six-months old through college-age students, the CAC’s engaging learning programs were created to serve everyone in Cincinnati, to help each person deepen their understanding of contemporary art and culture while bringing art into their everyday lives. The CAC’s youth education programs include Thursday Art Play, Family Festival, Play Café, Classroom in the Gallery, Homeschool Wednesdays, Contemporary Young Adults (C’YA), CAC Makerspace, Young Adult Lab, and the Artist-in-Residence program. CAC strives to provide high-quality arts experiences to everyone, removing all barriers of access so that everyone can participate together. When the Center closed in the spring of 2020 due to the Covid-19 virus, CAC creatively adapted several programs to virtual formats. While the high impact of the in-person program was diminished, the Center found that the alternative programming enabled many more young people to participate.
