ScoutREACH
More than 20,000 local youth and adult members participate in Scouting. The Dater Foundation grant supported the ScoutREACH program, which brings Scouting to youth in low-income and at-risk communities and ensures that all youth can participate and benefit from Scouting’s mission, regardless of financial ability. The Dan Beard Council is one of the larger metropolitan councils in the country and one of the largest youth-serving organizations in the Cincinnati area. The mission of Scouting includes helping instill in young people the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Scout Oath: On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. The Scout Law: A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
