Camp Korelitz
For more than 45 years, the American Diabetes Association's Camp Korelitz has served campers age 9-17 from 27 different counties throughout Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. Camp Korelitz provides over 160 campers, living with diabetes, each year the opportunity to meet other kids just like them while fostering independence, building self-confidence and gaining an awareness of a healthy lifestyle through education, nutrition, exercise, emotional well-being and glucose control. By attending summer camp, campers are able to challenge themselves through outdoor activities, develop social skills, self-respect and life-long friendships. Camp also provides a real-world experience for over 45 medical and nutrition staff and students who are able to learn about diabetes and help promote an awareness of a healthy lifestyle through education, nutrition, exercise, emotional well-being and glucose control outside of the clinical setting. Camp Korelitz is able to provide a week of camp to campers who would otherwise not be able to afford the experience.
