Grant Evaluation Report:

The MYCincinnati Summer Camp and Price Hill Creative Community Festival project were successful. We enrolled less children than we anticipated but the students that did enroll were some of our best. We were able to provide higher quality educational experience in a smaller group setting with more one-on-one instruction. Students were immersed in music receiving five hours of instruction five days a week for four weeks. Then they performed original works for their family, friends, and neighbors at the Price Hill Creative Community Festival.

Price Hill is one of Cincinnati’s most diverse neighborhoods, and the festival used collaborative arts as a tool to build a more creative, equitable, and connected community. The festival employed over professional artists, MYCincinnati Teaching Artists, and 2 sound engineers. Programming ranged from African dance to spoken-word, hip-hop to electronic soundscapes, but the focus was on the MYCincinnati youth artists performing original pieces featuring strings, winds, brass, and percussion. The festival appealed to all ages with family-friendly activities, and the audience reflected the diversity of MYCincinnati, which is about 60% LatinX, 25% Black, and 10% White, and 5% mixed race.

The festival featured performances from the MYCincinnati Youth orchestra, the Matt McAllister Trio, Roberto Parket, Annie Barr McAllister & John Massey, Pete Fosco, 5kBrass, AIR Project, Gabriel Martinez Rubio & Dos Corazones, Shu-Li Cheah, Hope Nowak Art, Annie Gordon & Wayside Winds, Rapunzel!, Rockne Riddlebarger, Brianna Kelly, Bernardo Lopez, Fritz Pape, Ijo Ugo, and Jett Walker Brass Quintet. There was also a kid zone, food trucks, art gallery, and more!
