Mini-Grants for Kids Program

Grant Application:

Greater Cincinnati Foundation’s Mini-Grants for Kids Programs consist of the Summertime Kids and Learning Links grants. These grants serve schools and nonprofits in our 8 county region.

The Summertime Kids program provides nonprofits funding for summer programs for children and youth ages birth-18. Funded programs provide supervised activities and programs that are enriching, fun and promote learning during the summer months.

The Learning Links program provides small grants to educators from K-12 schools for projects that do not have funding through the regular school budget. Funded programs include creative, interesting, educational projects or events they would like to bring to their school or classroom.

The Mini-Grants for Kids program consists of two grant opportunities, Summertime Kids and Learning Links. This mini-grant program is for nonprofit organizations that provide summer activities or creative, educational school programs for children and youth in our eight county Greater Cincinnati Area. Applicants may apply to Summertime Kids for grants up to $1,000 to fully or partially fund their organization's summer projects. Applicants may apply to Learning Links for grants up to $1,250 for classroom programs. These projects are fun, enriching and educational opportunities that have lasting impact on children.

Goals/Objectives:

Our Mini-Grants for Kids program is one of our most successful programs which has been around for over 30 years. Our program continues to help so many children and youth participate in fun, educational programs that they otherwise would not have access to. Our Summertime Kids program not only has a focus on addressing summer learning loss, but also introduces kids to new, enriching experiences that expand their horizons. Learning Links fills the gap in school budgets, allowing for teachers to provide creative and fun educational opportunities for their students that they otherwise would not be able to experience.

The Mini-Grants for Kids program was very successful in 2022. We received 214 applications for Summertime Kids which supports a wide variety of summer activities for kids from all over the tri-state. We also received 133 applications for Learning Links which supports creative, educational programs in the classroom. The grant review committee selected 166 projects for Summertime Kids and 128 projects for Learning Links with funds totaling $335,994. All eight counties in our tri-state region received funding. Over 51,000 kids were served through these grants, most of which were from low income and/or inner city areas. Many of these kids would not have had the chance to participate in these activities were it not for the Mini-Grants for Kids program and the help we receive to provide these grants from the Charles H. Dater Foundation.
