Grant Application:
In general, this grant will support the overall programs of Crayons to Computers, providing access to school supplies, incentive and enhancement items to teachers at schools where 60% or more of the student population benefit from the free or reduced-cost lunch program. These teachers access supplies through our Teacher Resource Center and Online Ordering (for mobile delivery or pick-up at the store).
More specifically, this grant will be used in three ways:
1) To purchase product - $30,000
2) To subsidize the Teacher Access Fee - $20,000
3) General Operating Support - $50,000
Grant Evaluation Report:
Coming out of the pandemic, we projected and estimated on the more conservative side in regard to teacher shopping numbers. We exceeded the goal by a small margin and look forward to our shopping numbers increasing each year.
* Re-open store in August - achieved. The store was re-opened in August 2021 and remained open the entire school year.
* Sustain online ordering for Mobile delivery – throughout the year. - Achieved
* Continue online for pick-up focused on August-October and January-February - Achieved

Value distributed or number of shops through each channel:
In total, $5,092,325 worth of materials and supplies was distributed and 10,650 total shops were supported in 2021/2022. Teachers from a total of 456 schools and PreK programs shopped during the year. Crayons reached approximately 36,556 students in need during the 2021-22 school year.

Reactions - In the 2021-2022 school year, 5,504 educators had the teacher access fee paid by their employer, a grant or themselves; at least 58% (3,215 unique shoppers) of these educators shopped at least once between July 2021, and March 2022.
Service in store
# of Schools paying for their teachers/# of teachers with access fees paid - 5,504 teachers had the access fees paid. 93 schools paid for some portion of their teachers. 8 schools had grant coverage paid for mobile deliveries to the school. Hall Pass funds and grant funds covered 3,263 teachers (preschool and k-12 schools).
How many teachers pay out of pocket? Less than 7.8% of teachers paid out of their own pocket.
Customer satisfaction (measure through teacher survey – 2020 survey showed 79% of respondents to be completely or very satisfied with the shopping experience.) In the March 2022 Teacher Survey, 99% of educators are satisfied or very satisfied with their overall experience at Crayons.
