Education & Outreach Programs
Grant Application:
After limiting our education offerings in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cincinnati Opera has redesigned and adapted its education programs for 2022. Our 2022 Education & Outreach Programs were developed to be able to be either virtual or in person, and be a true value-add to curriculums, in addition to spreading the beauty and knowledge of opera. Our 2022 Education & Outreach Programs are projected to reach 5,000 K-12 students at schools throughout the Greater Cincinnati region. Some examples of 2022 Programs are:
- Share the Love Truck: Spring Tour
- Stories, Singing, and Snacks
- Opera Storybook Hour
- Mindful Opera Movement
- Spirituals in Motion
- Cincinnati Opera Masterclass
The above programs are designed to provide young audiences with: 1) direct and meaningful arts engagement; 2) a collaborative and inclusive arts experience; 3) an activity that supplements and supports their respective classroom learning while addressing specific curriculum goals and competencies.
The objective of Cincinnati Opera's 2022 Education and Outreach programs was to provide an extensive series of educational programs to Greater Cincinnati-area students in grades PreK-12 that provide meaningful arts engagement, a collaborative and inclusive arts experience, and supports school curriculum. The programs were developed based on feedback from local teachers, in order to ensure they complement curriculums and assist in the development of 21st century core competencies. Our goal is to reach 5,000 students.
Grant Evaluation Report:
While the programs and activities that we conducted were highly successful, we were short of reaching our goal of serving 5,000 PreK-12th grade students over the past year. Our education programs will absolutely continue, but we are working diligently to restructure, expand, and modify our program offerings to be more accessible and beneficial for teachers and schools. While some of our current program offerings will remain the same, others will change or be newly created. Because of these changes, we have rated it as "somewhat successful."
