Supporting Children’s Programming

WGUC and WVXU positively impact young people through programming and other initiatives that are supported by Dater Foundation grants.  The Foundation used on-air announcements to highlight the good work being done by its grant recipients and to encourage new grant applications from nonprofit organizations for deserving projects.  Cincinnati Public Radio is the home of 90.9 WGUC (classical) and 91.7 WVXU (news).  WGUC’s Classics for Kids introduces elementary school-aged children to classical music in a fun and entertaining way.  WVXU’s Democracy & Me is an outreach program that reinforces the importance of journalism in our democracy.  Thousands of parents, teachers and students participate in one or more programs, and even more tune to 90.9 or 91.7 for classical music or local or NPR news at home or in the classroom.
