Integrated Music Therapy Program

St. Aloysius transforms lives daily by serving some of the most vulnerable children and adolescents in Southwest Ohio … providing behavioral healthcare, specialized education, and clinical resources needed to navigate the effects of trauma, emotional, and mental health challenges. Music Therapy (MT) is a weekly program at campuses in Hamilton and Butler Counties.  Each session is led by music therapists from partner Melodic Connections: a local, highly reputable and evidence-based MT non-profit.  Often MT provides a starting place for non-threatening support and processing symptoms associated with trauma and open communication is strongly encouraged.  The magic of music comes to life as students learn music theory and creation through hands-on experiences.

By discovering beats, harmonies, and rhythms, students are given the freedom to explore the possibilities of bucket drums, guitars, and electronic keyboards, all while escaping their challenges.  Daiveion, a 6th grade student, is one of 163 young people experiencing the world of therapeutic music at St. Aloysius. “I love that I am not being graded.  I can learn and not be worried about being wrong or doing something bad.”
