Sleep Tight: Beds for Cincinnati Children in Need For more than 150 years, St. Vincent de Paul - Cincinnati (SVDP) has provided basic necessities to vulnerable Cincinnati neighbors and alleviated suffering as the region’s largest provider of emergency assistance. Families come to SVDP during financial struggles, and SVDP helps them to make ends meet; this has never been more true than during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Dater Foundation empowered SVDP to serve more families with higher levels of assistance by providing unrestricted support to respond to changing pandemic needs (a separate $25,000 Covid-19 Relief grant) and by this grant of continuing support of SVDP’s “Sleep Tight: Beds for Cincinnati Children in Need” program. During the past year, neighbors in need accessed over $2.1M in rental assistance to stay safely in their homes, 365,200 pounds of food to nourish their families, more than 73,000 prescription to stay healthy, and nearly 400 beds for children without their own place to sleep. In a year of unprecedented difficulties, this support helped families achieve stability amid the economic devastation of the pandemic.
