Redwood Improvement Project
Redwood, based in Fort Mitchell, helps children with and without disabilities and adults with disabilities to reach their highest potential by providing childcare, preschool, therapy (speech, occupational, physical, behavior supports), employment programs, and adult day programs. Thanks to the Dater Foundation and other funders, Redwood has been able to complete numerous much-needed improvements at its 86,000 sq. ft. facility since July 2020. This includes replacing 18 windows, renovating a children’s program room, completing parking lot repairs, and installing new carpeting and flooring.
These improvements ultimately benefited all children and youth in Redwood’s programs. In 2020, the Early Care and Education Program served 316 children, with the majority (73%) having special needs. Outcomes achieved included 90% of children participating for at least 6 months demonstrating progress in social and emotional development and 88% demonstrating progress in cognitive and language skills. In 2020, the After School program served 68 school age youth living with disabilities.
