Environmental Education Program

Keep Cincinnati Beautiful’s Environmental Education Program connects economically disadvantaged children with the environment to help them grow social and emotional skills, learn about the world around them, and take action to make a positive difference. KCB brings nature into the classroom and classrooms outside into nature. Free programming is offered to any school in the Greater Cincinnati area and includes: assemblies, classroom presentations, cleanups, service learning, field trips, and a local environmental issues project. The catalog of resources is designed to complement the Ohio Learning Standards and provide students a consistent environmental message that reinforces environmental literacy and inspires stewardship for the environment. The 2019-20 Environmental Education Program was on track to meet and surpass anticipated outreach goals, but due to the pandemic and subsequent restrictions KCB was tasked with pivoting the program. This involved the conversion of classroom presentations, assemblies, and select field trips to an interactive digital format. All videos and resources were made accessible and free of charge from the new Environmental Education Program website www.kcbecoed.org.  Thanks to donors' confidence in the program and ongoing support, the website is updated monthly with new and engaging resources.
