School-based Personal Safety Program
The Council on Child Abuse (COCA) works to protect and educate children so they can thrive at school and home. A Dater grant supported efforts to educate children about the effects of bullying and abuse. COCA offers sessions in the familiarity of the child’s classroom and through a hybrid model of in-person and virtual presentations. Afterward, children have the opportunity to speak to one of the classroom educators privately to express any concerns. During the 2019-2020 school year, 873 classroom presentations were given at 50 schools serving 17,615 children.
