Early Childhood and Youth Service Music Program

Thanks to support from the Dater Foundation, CABVI was able to provide home-based early intervention services as well as individual and music therapy sessions with partial salary support of two music therapists. Each child learned to create music in ways that utilize fine and gross motor skills and use of their remaining vision. Children also gained skills that empowered them to feel more confident in their unique abilities. CABVI's music therapists have historically provided professional, individualized services in person, either at the agency or in the community. Here are a couple of adaptive ways that we have been providing services with helpful funding from the Dater Foundation during the pandemic:

In the spring of 2020, through a private Facebook group composed of CABVI’s music therapy clients, we were able to launch a month-long Creative Arts Therapy Program centered around nature, mindfulness, connection, and trust.  With help from an independent art therapist, we offered two solo art projects and one community project.  We sent out over 40 participation packets and had 49 members become part of the private Facebook group.  Families engaged with the ECYS team through sharing pictures, videos, and commenting online.
During the summer of 2020, the Early Childhood and Youth Services (ECYS) team began seeing clients in person, including at the agency and at outdoor locations.  It was great to utilize to utilize our newly renovated music and multipurpose rooms while still providing a majority of our services to clients through virtual visits.  CABVI served 80 individuals in the music program in 2020.
