Student Service Group Project
People Working Cooperatively performs critical home repairs and services so that low-income homeowners can remain in their homes living independently and healthier in a safe, sound environment. PWC has been providing home repair, energy conservation, home modifications, and volunteer-provided services for over 44 years in the Greater Cincinnati area. Volunteers have played a pivotal role in the success of PWC’s services. Because of PWC’s reputation, each summer local youth groups and other group from around the country donate a week of service. In 2018, five different organizations sent 15 groups to complete 17 projects in the Cincinnati area. Overall, 181 individual volunteers (students and adult leaders) donated a total of 3,067 hours of service to the community. A Dater grant supported the student volunteers who were able to build skills, form important relationships, gain exposure to urban and rural poverty, and most importantly, develop a commitment to service that will shape their lives in the years to come.
